Sarah Tyler

Sarah has amassed considerable experience at SHM as a project manager, interviewer, researcher and facilitator. She has worked for diverse clients, including the Learning and Skills Council, the Commission for Racial Equality, DHL and the Barbican.

Since joining SHM in 2005, Sarah has managed a nine-month programme for the LSC, working with a group of young white men from North London schools deemed at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), to explore and build their aspirations. Sarah has worked as a researcher and interviewer on a project for the Commission for Racial Equality that focussed on informal interaction between different ethnic groups. Sarah has also managed a project for DHL Asia Pacific, working closely with its Business IT senior management team to create their new operating framework. Amongst other current projects, Sarah is managing and working closely with members of the National Learner Panel, a DIUS initiative whereby a group of FE students are consulted as a reference group on emerging policy issues. Sarah has gained particular expertise at SHM in working one-on-one with clients or consumers as an interviewer or support; building trust with them and teasing out the issues most present for them in relation to the questions posed by a project.

Prior to joining SHM, Sarah worked at Arts Council England and Burberry in Paris. She holds a First class BA (Hons) from the University of Bristol in French and Italian, languages that she speaks fluently. She recently completed a Masters at Goldsmiths College, University of London in Arts Management and Cultural Policy. Whilst studying for her Masters, she worked at Mousetrap Theatre Projects, a charity devising education projects around West End theatre for disadvantaged young people in Greater London. She currently spends her evenings studying psychology at Birkbeck, University of London.
