
Kate Peden
Since joining SHM in April 06, Kate has managed a portfolio of public and private sector projects for clients ranging from the LSC, DIUS and Big Lottery Fund to Unilever and Booz Allen Hamilton. She particularly specialises in engagement and action research within the education and voluntary sectors, but has also managed complex, multiple-stakeholder projects within a corporate context.
Kate’s background as a facilitator, trained teacher and former Head of Education and Outreach department has provided her with a broad range of experience and an understanding of motivations across a wide range of communities and ages. She brings a creative, empathetic and meticulous approach to facilitation and interviewing, and has used these skills to conduct research, engagement and responsiveness programmes with such diverse audiences as college senior management teams, learners in all types of education, adults with mental health difficulties, asylum seekers/refugees and NEET young people.
Kate is SHM’s long term Client Engagement Director for the National Learner Panel, the National Student Forum and 14-19 Learner Panel – innovative initiatives launched by Government to empower learners and students as co-developers of further and higher education policy.
Kate holds a BA (Hons) in English Literature (Queens’ College, Cambridge), a Postgraduate Certificate in Education with Qualified Teacher Status and a Postgraduate Diploma in Acting from Mountview Theatre School, London. Kate is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
