
Claire Askam
Claire specialises in event management, engagement and recruitment in a wide range of project and sector contexts. She organises high profile launches, workshops and events for both public and private sector clients.
She co-ordinated the stakeholder engagement for research for the National Institute for Clinical Excellence into maternal and child nutrition, for the Learning and Skills Council South West's skill capability programme for training providers, and for the Department of Health's research into Compacts and Values.
Claire is highly skilled in recruitment and maintaining relationships, drawing on this to support long term high profile initiatives such as the National Learner Panel, 14-19 Learner Panel and the National Student Forum, where she had responsibility for member recruitment, event management, training and development and safeguarding . An experienced project manager, she has also managed evaluation projects for OECD/IMHE and NHS Employers, and a long term consultation and engagement programme for the Driving Standards Agency.
Claire was part of a team conducting face to face interviews in prisons for the evaluation of Offender learner services for the former Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), and also regularly conducts telephone or face to face interviews in a range of different contexts.
Prior to joining SHM, Claire managed the corporate customer service division at American Express, a new business area for the Financial Times and deputy managed a highly successful recruitment agency.
Claire holds a postgraduate certificate in Performing Arts.
