Anna Kydd

Anna has been working for SHM since 2003. In the past few years she has headed up SHM's work in Mexico City and on her return to London in 2010 has been working primarily in the health sector along with managing key projects that SHM is running with University College London. Projects with UCL include working with the Energy Institute to understand human behaviour in relation to turning lights off and with UCL Partners to come up with a new approach to understanding patient experience, in this case for Brain Cancer patients. All of these projects have a clear focus in terms of demonstrating the value that the humanities can bring to day to day problems that we are facing in sectors such as health and the environment.

Anna has developed particular expertise in the development of participatory approaches and methodologies to help excluded groups voice and articulate their needs and develop solutions to the challenges that they face. Clients that she has worked with in this area include the Department for Education in the U.K, Edge (a charity that aims to promote vocational education in the U.K.) and the Learning Skills Council.

She also has a keen interest in, and significant project experience of, new advances in the digital world and exploring the opportunities that they provide for social change worldwide.

Before joining SHM Anna worked for the Food Agriculture Organization and for the Fairtrade Labeling Organization. Anna has a BA (Hons) in Geography from the School of Oriental and African Studies and an MSc in Planning and Development from the Development Planning Unit, University College London.
