Anna Kydd

Anna has been working for SHM since 2003, initially as a Project Manager in the London office and now she is currently running the SHM office in Mexico City.

Her educational background is in environment and development, with a Master’s in Planning and Development from University College London.  Previous to working at SHM she worked on various research projects for the Food Agriculture Organization, UNESCO in Ghana and for the Fairtrade Labeling Organization.

Anna has developed particular expertise while working at SHM in the following areas: first facilitating and developing participatory approaches and methodologies to help excluded groups voice and articulate their needs and develop solutions to the challenges that they face. Clients that she has worked with in this area include the Department for Education in the U.K and Edge (a charity that aims to promote vocational education in the U.K.).

Secondly, she has worked in the area of network digital communications.  She co-founded project Zumbido, a pilot project that developed support networks for those living with HIV/AIDS in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.  These networks were created using a mobile phone technology that enabled simultaneous communication by means of SMS and voice.

Anna has recently been working in the area of the new advances in the digital world and the opportunities that they provide for social change.  She has been participating in the Freedom of Expression project run by the Ford Foundation, which looks to understand how communications are changing across the world.
